i went into town this morning for the regular coffee morning at the sewing workshop. I had a lovely morning chatting with friends over a coffee and home made lemon cake. I was also given a big bag full of flower seeds by a gardening friend.Even after letting everyone else have their pick I returned home with this lot
They are mostly free samples that my friend had received with gardening magazines over the past couple of years. Some of the seeds may not still be viable as they might be getting a little old but they have been stored well so I am going to try and germinate them anyway. I plan to sow some into my garden direct, some into pots, and then sow lots into trays in the greenhouse, once these get established I will pass them out to other people through the coffee mornings and through LETS.
Fay if you are reading this I will really be trying to do my bit this year to cover the world in flowers :)
This afternoon I finished sanding down the old cupboard. I have had a change of direction with this cupboard now. Once it was sanded I quite liked the look of the stripped wood,
it tones in nicely with my stripped pine furniture, so I am thinking instead of painting it I may just give it a rub down with some wax. I know there is some somewhere in the garage from when I waxed the kitchen bench set.The handles have grown on me too, so I may just give those a coat of black enamel paint, at the moment they are a bit rusty so will need a quick sand down first. I should be able to get this cupboard project completed tomorrow.I have found three baskets that fit well inside , a couple of key hooks from the old house which I can use, a small pinboard and lots of jars , so the interior is almost sorted too. I can't wait to get my sewing machine and sewing bits and pieces into some kind of proper storage.
Clearing the kitchen of all the orange sawdust took the rest of the afternoon up,how I wish there was power in the garage where the dust doesn't matter so much. Sophie took Jake on his afternoon walk whilst I finished up with the hoovering, mopping and wiping down.Anyway most of the hard work is done now and the end is in sight with this cupboard.
Chilling out time tonight with the second of the Twilight books and maybe The Secret Life of Bees DVD, but first off I need a shower as I have sawdust everywhere :)
